Fountain → Final Draft (FDX): quick conversion guide

Sep 18, 2025 • 3–4 min read · how‑to format

Here’s the fast path to hand a clean .fdx file to collaborators while drafting in Fountain.

1) Import your Fountain file

Open the Editor and choose Upload Script. Select your .fountain. ScriptForge parses it into blocks.

2) Tidy & verify

3) Export to Final Draft (.fdx)

Open Export → choose .fdx. Keep a PDF for easy sharing.

Tip: If a studio asks for page‑locked pages, export a PDF with scene numbers after you lock your draft.
